The Foundation for Professional Ergonomics (FPE) is always looking for dedicated volunteers to help us pursue our mission and conduct our programs and initiatives.

If you would like to donate your time or resources to work with the FPE team, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

  • Financial support is essential to the efforts and activities of the Foundation for Professional Ergonomics (FPE).
  • FPE actively supports the goals of the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) through the Alliance.
  • Contributions are tax-deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the United States of America Internal Revenue Code.

FPE relies upon financial support through donations, endowments, grants, and bequests.

You and your company are encouraged to sponsor an ergonomics/human factors student scholarship, to support ergonomics/human factors students and practicing ergonomists in developing countries, or to making a general contribution to support other vital FPE initiatives.

Make your donations:

  • By check
  • Via PayPal
  • Through donations of securities in the Foundation’s Endowment Account.
  • By designating the Foundation for Professional Ergonomics as the beneficiary of your asset by will, trust or other instrument.

Note:  If you are receiving Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA, you can designate FPE as a recipient of part of the RMD as part of your tax planning.  If you make a direct transfer from your IRA to FPE, you get to count that money toward your RMD — but because it’s not actually distributed to you, it won’t increase your adjusted gross income.

Click on the button below to make your contribution by credit card through PayPal's secure server.

Please indicate how you want your donation used.  In general, your donation will be used to:

  • Establish scholarships
  • Support the Dieter W. Jahns Student Practitioner Award for graduate students (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Ergonomics and Ergonomics-related programs.
  • Support the Ergonomists Without Borders and Impact Grants program - to impart ergonomics expertise and resources to agriculturally and industrially developing communities, globally.

We are very interested in serving you and your interests in Ergonomics professionalism. Please send us your suggestions for programs that you'd like to see developed or activities that you'd like us to consider sponsoring.

Endowment Account

An endowment account at Merrill Lynch has been established for the purpose of accepting donations of stock, bonds, or other mutual fund holdings from individuals who would like to use this method to support the Foundation for Professional Ergonomics.

  • This type of donation allows tax deductibility of the funds with the advantage of a direct transfer from the individual’s account/brokerage firm without having to sell the funds (thus eliminating any taxable event for those donating).

  • If you make a donation of stock, you do not pay any tax on the increase of the value of the stock from the time you acquired it (capital gains) and the entire current value of the stock is tax deductible.

  • As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation can sell stock without paying any capital gains.   See example below.

Dr E has $10,000 in stocks she wants to donate to FPE.

If she sells the stock and then donates it FPE

Who We Are

The Foundation for Professional Ergonomics was established in 2004 as a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing professionalism in ergonomics through educational activities and awards.  Our goals support the goals of BCPE, and we work closely with the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) on various ergonomics practitioner initiatives.  FPE attained an IRS 501(c)(3) status enabling tax-deductible donations from those sharing this dedication to professionalism in ergonomics.
